Just as the students wrote that Quingming Festival (or Tomb-sweeping Festival) is a traditional festival in Taiwan and China stretching back more than 2,500 years ago.
Qingming Festival (on April 5th) gives an opportunity for people to remember and honor their ancestors at grave sites. Young and old pray before the ancestors, sweep the tombs (so it is also called Tomb-sweeping Festival) and offer food, tea, wine to the ancestors.
On this day, people go on family outings, start the spring plowing, sing, and dance. Another popular thing to do is to fly kites in the shapes of animals or characters from Chinese opera.

What a lovely tradition.
